By 2021.05.18.No Comments

We are delighted to announce that the Várfok Gallery is once again participating at the Art KARLSRUHE 2021 International Art Fair. This year the fair will take a hybrid form, with both an online presence and an in-person presence within the Várfok Gallery itself.

The Várfok Gallery’s  Art KARLSRUHE stand will be situated in the Várfok Project Room, and will be open to the public from 19th. – 21st. May, 2021.

GILOT 100 – One-Artist-Show

The highlight of the Várfok Gallery’s stand will be the ‘One-Artist-Show’ celebrating  the 100th birthday of Françoise Gilot. A large selection of works of this legendary artist’s oeuvre will be on show.  Gilot’s painting career is a story of triumph which has taken a long time to receive the appreciation it deserves. She has had to prove herself as an artist on many occasions, finally being able to shrug off the label of “Picasso’s muse” and establish herself professionally as a first-class artist in her own right. The roots of her work point back to the revolutionary heyday of 20th century art, where she was in direct contact with the great artists of the time such as Braque, Matisse, Juan Gris, Apollinaire, Paul Éluard, André Breton, Aragon and Cocteau. Her works are in numerous worldwide museums and galleries including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (USA), the Tate Gallery (UK) and the Centre Pompidou in Paris (F). Additionally, her work can be found to enrich a significant number of prestigious private collections.

 VÁRFOK HIGHLIGHTS

Additionally, the Várfok Gallery’s stand in the Várfok Project Room will showcase an exciting selection of work from the Gallery’s resident artists The display will include works by the iconic figure of the contemporary Hungarian art scene, János Szirtes, who is known as a painter, performance, video and media artist. His featured works will include the sooty pictures from the 80’s, alongside the kaleidoscopic compositions of Endre Rozsda, one of the first Hungarian surrealists. Younger talent will be represented by three brilliantly skilled artists: Anna Nemes’s highly sensitive, water coloured nudes, Máté Orr’s latest surreal, neo-baroque compositions and Kata Gaál’s unique collage and montage works.

We look forward to welcoming you all to  the Várfok Project Room.
