The next Várfok Project Room exhibition will once again concentrate on sculpture. Tamás Melkovics’ solo exhibition, ‘Morphologic’, focuses on the artist’s works since 2015 when he started making modular sculptures exhibited alongside his graphic works.
Tamás Melkovics (b. 1987, Székesfehérvár / H) graduated from the University of Fine Arts Sculpture Department in 2012. This Derkovics Scholarship awarded artist has presented his works in prestigious exhibition spaces such as the Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok), ICA-D Contemporary Art Institute (Dunaújváros, Hungary) and Ferenczy Museum Centre (Szentendre, Hungary).
The central issue reflected in Melkovics’s work is the origin of life. Genesis, the secret of birth and the very process of development interest him most. His works are built up through simple abstract elements and the viewer can see the process through which the work becomes increasingly complex. He creates his work with multiplied main elements, which blossom like a living being, and become an organic complex sculpture. The perfectly polished, precise, well-executed and highly sensual artworks arrest attention.
The exhibition is completed with large format graphic pieces. These monochrome prints have the same idealistic background as the sculptures, underlining the differences between the two techniques.
