About the works

The young Françoise Gilot started to evolve in the field of painting at the beginning of the 1940’s, under the wings of Endre Rozsda among others.  Françoise had been learning to draw and paint since her childhood. After attending different artistic academies, she met Pablo Picasso during the Second World War in 1944. The evolving of her painting technique could not pass Picasso’s influence, but soon she managed to leave these features and find her own mature style from the mid-fifties. Later on she fully deserved to become worldwide known painter: alloying powerful/dynamic colours, fringing between abstract and figurative worlds, she seeks simplicity in her works and harmony of the tones while compressing her philosophical point of view of the world in consistent but clear compositions. Her artworks are presented in several private and public collections.
